Is the super-early switch to Daylight Savings Time messing with your inner season-clock? I know mine is completely confused by the dual prospect of snowbanks and light until almost 7 p.m. Another successful federal initiative!
I absolutely loved Ed Shamy's column in the Burlington Free Press regarding the goofy time change. You can find it here.
There is no good reason why we should watch the sun set so late over the snowbanks. Of course, there is no good reason why we should have restored snowbanks in time for the first day of Spring, but that is for another comment.
Has anyone considered how miserable the flip side will be when we get into November on EDT? And what of the poor Canadians who sprang forward with us? Why not relabel all of our time zones and make EDT the new EST?
The Congress that passed this legislation probably voted down something about stem cells because in that case, scientists would be playing God, yet those same Congressmen are not above rearranging the laws of time!
Hmm... maybe I'm alone in this, but I... just really don't care that much. It's kind of nice to have longer days while there's still snowbanks - it makes me feel like spring is going to come soon, despite the snow outside.
As someone who gets up at 5:30 in the morning, let me politely note that the day has not been made any longer. The time of daylight has merely been moved.
Touche. However, as someone who routinely works until 7PM or later, it's nice this time of year when I can start getting out of work while there's still some light out.
