Richardson
The governor of New Mexico and presidential hopeful prepares to sign a medical marijuana bill. His words:
"So what if it's risky? It's the right thing to do," said Richardson, one of the candidates in the crowded 2008 field. "What we're talking about is 160 people in deep pain. It only affects them."
He just got a lot more interesting.

Richardson's remarks are like a breath of fresh air. I'm increasingly interested in the "Lower Tier" candidates since I already suffer Obama/Clinton fatigue. I mean, seriously! I was well over them before they even announced their candidacy. I'm sure the media studies and poli sci folks are chomping at the bit to analyze how the media overexposure affects voter malaise. That combined with the increasing pressure to have all 50 primaries and caucuses by March 1 is sure to have a serious influence on the U.S. political process.
We in the Northern Vermont/N.H./N.Y. media market are already bombarded with Romney ads on TV. It's all disgusting, really. We don't have a chance to evaluate candidates based on their strengths and weaknesses before we are just sick to death of seeing their smiling faces and hearing meaningless sound-bites.
I'd love to hear other people's takes on this issue, assuming that there are more than three of us who regularly read this blog.
