...The President is always right.

Which is reassuring, I suppose, even if it means that between 53 and 63 percent of Americans are wrong.

For what it's worth, this also means that it's "right" to respond to a reporter's question about an airport bombing in Beirut, and what affect this might have on the region, by joking about getting to slice the pig that night at the German state dinner.

Clearly, I have much to learn.

Well, between 53 and 63 percent of Americans are probably wrong on any number of things, and opinion is a notoriously fickle thing about which to be right or wrong.

But your larger point is one about the Imperial Presidency, which now, thanks to signing statements, has now begun to transcend the bounds of reality. A prediction: things are going to get worse before they get better.
