I find it interesting that they don't actually poll the Daily Show viewers on whether or not they plan on voting. Seeing that several studies have shown that Daily Show viewers are more politically aware and better educated than the average person, I don't think cynicism alone leads to not voting. I'd say everyone here has a healthy amount of cynicism towards the government, and yet I'd guess the majority of us vote regularly.

All in all, I'd say the author drew his own conclusions here.

Agreed. Not to mention that it seems like the author either doesn't think students are able to process cynical humor/sarcasm—or only interviewed thos who lack the capacity to process such information.

I know that when I watch the "Daily Show" (albeit very seldomly—no cable, you see), I'm able to say, "Hey, I know he's just being funny, and that I should care about this because look how it's being handled!"

If anything, I'd think that "Daily Show" viewers may be more inclined to vote...
