Still, being the two powerful nations with interest in Iraq, it's good that both sides are realizing that they have to sit down with somebody. Whether the talks will go anywhere - who knows. But with Iraq about to slip into civil war - really, as soon as we admit that what's taking place is civil war - Iran could potentially be invaluable in crafting a plan to allow for a stable, peaceful Sunni-majority reign. Or they could just try to slaughter the Shiite. Still, I imagine any plan that came out of the dicussion would be along the lines of "We get the oil, you get the people," but that wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing in the world, either.

Surely we must think something!

Sunni majority reign? Eh? Did you mean Shi'a?
My mistake, of course I meant Shi'a. Sorry.
